Thank you Netgalley for providing me an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so bloody. Well it’s more like : I-am-picking-this-book-up-from-its-top-right-corner-because-it-is-caking-with-blood bloody.

Now I Rise is basically what it means, Lada wants the Wallachian throne and anyone that gets on her way will be receiving her fiery rage. Radu is on Mehmed’s side trying help Mehmed get what he wants: Constantinople.

In the last book, I preferred Lada’s story over Radu. She was battling her way between the Janisaries, she was trying to prove that being a woman meant more than just a sex object. She managed to train and prove her point by gaining a team of Janisaries that were ready to follow her to Wallachia. Radu was just Radu… he was whiny and that made me eyeroll way too many times, but I would still give him a hug… ‘cause he’s Radu. I like him.

In ‘Now I Rise’, Radu’s story was just amazing! I preferred his timeline over Lada’s ten times more. If this book was just about Radu and how he helped Mehmed with Constantinople… I would hands down read it. Radu’s story gave us the opportunity to see the battle from both sides: Mehmeds and Constatines. We see how Radu is trying to figure out if his missions on both empires are right or wrong. He was stuck with figuring out who was good and who was bad. He also had to decide what side he needed and wanted to be.
In this book, Radu is a complete Braveheart compared to how he was when we first met him in book one. I have to say I was happy that Nazira was part of the story, she gave Radu the "philosophical" face slapping… 'Cause Radu needed it and I think it helped him decide what he needed to do in the very end.

Lada is more bloody than ever in this book. She is just rage on a horse with a dagger. Bogdan, Nicolae, Petru, and Stefan are part of the team that help Lada reach her goals. I do have to say I am glad she kept them around ‘cause they were funny, honest, and sometimes the voice of reason.

What threw me off in this book , was that Lada’s and Radu’s timelines shifted and that was a little bit frustrating. I mean it works for how the story unfolds, but it wasn't my favorite. Eventually the timelines are parallel with each other towards the end which worked out. Once again the author does an awesome job closing this book in a way that leaves its readers craving for more. I am so ready for book 3 - I need to know how this mess works out. Lol.

** STOP READING HERE. THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. **

Thoughts about Mehmed: He is stupid. He has his moments, but in my opinion he is just ... stupid. He enjoys using people. And that part that he covered Lada’s mouth while in bed — NOPE. You lost my respect, sir!

Cyprus is beautiful.

Radu is growing up! I love it. I am so glad he keeps Nazira around… and I am sure Cyprus will be ok in the end (hopefully.) You are also my new favorite sir. I really hope that he finds his happy place in book 3.

Lada seriously needs a chill pill! She was way out of control with the blood spilling. Once she got what she wanted, she had no idea what to do with it or how to approach it. Dude, there’s more than just sitting in a throne and ordering people around. Just saying. Oh, and please stop playing with Bogdan's feelings!

Nicolae was or tried to be the voice of reason- I like him - but he failed because Lada is just stupid stubborn.

Bogdar needs to open his eyes. It would not surprise me if he explodes in the next book.

What was the deal with Stefan and that girl? I hope we get more answers in book three.
