Review: Hell and High Water

Hell and High Water Hell and High Water by Tanya Landman
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Every once in a while, I read historical fiction *gasp* Yes, don't look that surprised!

This book caught my eye and NetGalley was nice enough to give me the awesome opportunity to review this book.

I read the blurb and instantly fell in love with the mention of the following:

1. It's based in the 1700's
2. EEENNNGLLLANNNDD! (1700s England to be exact.) *Insert British Anthem here *
3. I love the name Caleb (Also, he looks adorable. I might adopt him.)

My first thoughts was yay! but as I continued reading my excitement kind of diminished. Sadly.

Unfortunately, I just couldn't connect with the story. I think it was mostly because of the voice. The story is written third person from Caleb's view, but in the beginning it read omniscient to me. Maybe if it were deeper POV I would've been able to connect with Caleb. I don't know, but don't let my opinion influence you.

I loved the idea and the intrigue... and look at that cover! It's beautiful!

DNF'd : *sad face*

Thank you NetGalley for providing an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
