Review: A Court of Wings and Ruin

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
AFLKGLKSGLFJSDLJF LK JLL K SJDG <<< That's exactly how I felt when I finished reading this book. Sooo many ups and downs. My rating fluctuated so many times... so it's a three for now. Let me explain... (or something like that...)
** I TRIED REALLY HARD NOT TO GIVE BIG SPOILERS. READ WITH CAUTION. THANK YOU. **
ACOTAR was one of those books that since the day I saw it being put on the shelf I wanted to read it. It was sweet sinful bread waiting to grab me and ... it did. I knew Tamlin was an a** from day one (OK, maybe day two) and... that weird guy (Rhys) from under the mountain left us with a confused - almost choking expression - at the end of the book.
ACOMAF was a Yoga block sized book filled with sooo many feels and GREAT character development. My thoughts about Tamlin where confirmed - he was/is really an a**. That weird guy (Rhys) was actually broken and in need of much love (and kisses.) I fell for him and apparently so did Feyre. Rhysand is not perfect though (Yeah, I said it -- not perfect. Don't you roll your eyes at me!) The book ended tragically and evilly with a hint of revenge. I wanted to know how in the world Feyre was going to pull that off.
Annddd... that brings us to ACOWAR, the third book in the series. Feyre was in enemy ground, (view spoiler) and she needed to succeed in her mission if she wanted to go back to her love and keep her friends ( and sisters) safe.
SJM brought Feyre and Rhysand together in epic ways in ACOMAF; unfortunately, this fire - this magnet - was sort of lost in ACOWAR. Feyre and Rhysand were just a couple and they did 'couple' things. There was nothing really straining their relationship except the war. War aside nothing really happened to their relationship. It was kind of boring. I don't know - just my opinion.
There was a lot of talking between characters which was mostly info dumping and that bored me. (Sorry.) I even took a break and started reading another book.
I think what kept me going was the involvement of Cassian and Azriel and their missions. [Cassian and Azriel are my peeps... Maybe my lovers, I don't know yet. Can I have them?] The story of how Nesta and Elain were trying to (unsuccessfully) adjust to their new life kept me intrigued. Oh! and Lucien! .... All I have to say is: Oh, poor Lucien. I am so sorry dude. (That's all I have to say about him for now.)
I enjoyed the beginning of this book (view spoiler) . The war chapters and scenes... those were pretty epic! I was always excited to read those.(view spoiler)
In general, the book as a whole was ok. I did feel like SJM tried to satisfy every reader and there were some parts that seemed rather pushed in to the story. I don't know if this is what she really wanted ACOWAR to be or if this is her way of planting a seed in order to have a back story for the next book she will be writing in the future.
So, Would I read the other upcoming books? Maybe. I am interested what's going to happen with Nesta. She is really a ticking time bomb. Lucien definitely has a story to tell... but I think if this series ended here, I would be ok with that. I mean wasn't this story originally how two broken people met each other and tried to mend each others wounds? (ahem, Feyre and Rhysand.) So, I don't know.. maybe when book #4 is published I'll save it for a rainy day.
Thanks for reading through my ramblings! I hope it made sense.
